Dr. Paul Edelstein is Vice President and Senior Economist for Macroeconomics and Strategy at Decision Economics, Inc. He oversees U.S. macroeconomic modeling work for DE, and writes regular publications for client readership. Dr. Edelstein produces proprietary S&P500 industry earnings forecasts and writes the monthly Sector/Industry Insights and Earnings Bulletins.
Prior to joining the company, Dr. Edelstein was an assistant economist in the research department at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. There, he monitored bank lending standards and asset quality, and contributed to the Federal Reserve Beige Book. His research on banking market consolidation and deregulation was published in the New York Fed Economic Policy Review.
Dr. Edelstein earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan in 2007, focusing on empirical macroeconomics, econometrics, and forecasting. He published his dissertation results on the effects of energy and commodity price shocks on the U.S. economy in the Journal of Macroeconomics and the Journal of Monetary Economics.
Dr. Edelstein grew up in New City, NY and earned a B.A. from Cornell University in 2000.
